Biography

Since leaving the District Attorney's Office in 2007, Tim has established a very successful private law practice as an attorney in The Kuykendall Law Office, Norman, Oklahoma. He limits his practice to mainly criminal cases in both State and Municipal Courts, handling both felony and misdemeanor cases. His office can also help you with any personal injury cases.

Tim was the elected district attorney for three terms for Cleveland, McClain and Garvin counties. During his tenure he has supervised a staff of approximately 100 employees, including attorneys, investigators, interns and secretaries; managed an annual budget of 5.6 million dollars; and prosecuted and / or supervised the prosecution of felony cases, including eight death penalty cases and 130 homicide cases.

Tim initiated numerous programs while at the District Attorneys office, including the Domestic Violence Unit, Adult Drug Court Program, Juvenile Drug Court Program, Community Sentencing, Mental Health Court, Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force, and a Truancy Program. He supervised a very successful child support division, increasing collection to over 12 million annually. The program won Oklahoma’s Office of the Year award in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2004, as well as the 2005 National Child Support Enforcement Association’s Most Outstanding Program award.

While serving as a project director, Tim solicited and received numerous grants, including a $500,000 drug court grant from the justice department. Other grants include a JAIBG grant (juvenile prosecution grant); VOCA grant (Victim of Crimes Act); VAWA grant (Violence Against Women Act); and a BYRNE grant (Multijurisdictional Drug Task Force Grant).

Tim has extensive experience dealing with public media. He has appeared on “60 Minutes,” “Good Morning America,” Forensic Files, “America’s Most Wanted” and CNN. He has organized and participated in fundraising events for March of Dimes, American Cancer Society, Special Olympics, Juvenile Diabetes Association, Ally’s House, Thunderbird Clubhouse, Meals on Wheels, J.D. McCarty Center, Mary Abbott House, United Cerebral Palsy, Salvation Army, Angel Tree Program and the United Way. In addition, Tim has been the red ribbon event speaker for Norman and Moore public schools. He has also been a guest lecturer for sociology and political science classes at the University of Oklahoma, as well as a guest speaker at civic clubs, fraternities and sororities, senior citizen centers, the Council on Law Enforcement Education Training, and others.

Tim served as the chairman of the Law Enforcement Block Grant Program and a board member of the Oklahoma District Attorney’s Association.

As assistant District Attorney, Tim prosecuted felony cases, including homicide and death penalty cases. He served as a chief drug prosecutor and a multijurisdictional drug task force project director. He lectured for various law enforcement classes and handled numerous asset forfeiture cases. Tim was also responsible for supervising and training legal interns.
